Antakya, Turkey
Standing on the very beach from which Paul set out on one of his missionary journeys, Josef and Elin Kristensen can look across to Antakya, or ancient Antioch, where the believers were first called Christians. Now a predominately Muslim city, there is little evidence of the gospel of grace and a disturbing measure of unrighteous and unjust behaviour in the community.
Every day Josef and Elin face huge pressures of religious bigotry, heartbreaking social injustice, devastating domestic violence and much more.
Yet, the favour of God is evident, and the small pioneering church plant group that Josef and Elin are gathering in Antakya is taking root and growing. What a gripping, groundbreaking work of beautiful grace.
